Mimi and Papa come to town!

Mimi and Papa were so nice to pick Colby up from Atlanta this weekend and bring her back home to us. This trip usually takes about 5 hours. After 7 hours of them still driving - I called to find out what was up. Mimi took Colby shopping. Yep. Took them 8 hours to get to us because Coe and Mimi were shopping away! Lol. You should have seen the poses Colby was striking when she was showing me all of the clothes she got. Now she wants mimi and papa to come and get her every time. lol.

Mom was so nice to our puppies! I'm sure she was in another level of hell, being here with three dogs in our little house - but she never complained and was really nice to them. Not to worry - any trips to Atlanta will be big dog free. lol. Abby's bed and bisket already has both of them on file, and they'll be having a night at the bisket hotel for any of our trips. lol. I wish Lala and K could see them.
Maybe they'll make a trip to Tennessee sometime before the end of the year. We would all love that!

Colby loved, loved, loved having mimi and papa here. Always does. They ate lunch with her before they left (they're braver than I am). She came home and told me all about it. lol. I'm so happy for the fun they have with her. So, so happy.

Just for Auntie K

Kiss my butt.

B U T T.

Butt.

Oh my aching back!

This is the sweetest face ever! My arms are really killing me. I woke up this morning and they hurt so bad. Back did too. I couldn't figure out why. . . then the baby started crying and I picked him up. Yep. 23 pounds doesn't sound like a lot until you have to carry it around 4 hours every day. And I can't take Advil while I'm on the blood thinners. I'm fixing to break the rules and take a whole bottle. Man do I hurt. Either he's got to learn to walk - LIKE TODAY - or I'm going to have to check myself into our hospital. Heck, I should already, just for sheer exhaustion!
He sure is cute.

McKinley day 14

Been two weeks. Fell in love with her. Still not eating dog food. Gets lots of cheese. . . cheetos. . . chicken. . . bacon dog treats. Guess I wouldn't eat the dog food either. Still afraid. Still hiding a good deal. Eats from John's hands now. Lets John pet her. Doesn't run from dishwasher. Come a long way already. . . . can't believe it's the same dog. John and I saved her life. We rock.

Bella Boo

This is our big Bella. That's the name she came from the shelter with. I love her. She pretty much just lays around. She walks wonderfully on a leash. . . . and that's a big deal with a dog this big. She's been very gentle with the kids. . . but she is a bit food aggressive. I've found that most shelter dogs are until they realize that they will be fed every day. Our Buddy dog was that way for a little while - and now he's all better. It just means that when one of the other dogs comes near the food when she's eating - she barks at them and scares everyone. lol.
She got a bath yesterday - and they did an amazing job on her. She had the normal matts on her back legs from being in a pin outside for 5 years. . . they made her matt free and she smells wonderful! I can't wait for Colby to see her when she gets back from Atlanta!

Go to freaking sleep!!!

He's cute, but he won't sleep. Last 4 nights - slept about 3 hours each. I'm so tired it's not safe. lol. Last night I was supposed to go roll up my windows in my car before bed. I went outside, opened the garage door, opened my car door - then realized I didn't bring my keys. Went back into the house to get them. Went to bed.
Woke up next morning - door to house unlocked, car door wide open. What in the world?

Little body, big attitude

I heard Buddy growling. Came in and found him in the great dane's crate, eating her bone. She wanted it back . . . and he told her no! He's 8 pounds. She's 110. He won. Brat.

Hello Bella

Uh. Yeah. All I can say is, we're done. lol. We love Bella and will probably keep her for our own. Aoki went to a family on a farm with 3 kids and a woman who is by herself. Perfect fit! Too many dogs to help. We love McKinley, Buddy and Bella. No more. I'll need more meds if I help any more.

Buzzzzz Buddy

It's just cruel and unusual what we are making him do for Halloween.
And we really like him. . . imagine if we didn't. Shoot.

No more room at the Inn

Name Aoki. American Great Dane. 110 pounds. Very gentle with the kids. Needs a good home - and it would be like they are getting two pets, because her tail alone is like it's own thing. A bit nervous. . . bit off more than I wanted to chew. Only want to foster fat, lazy dogs. Aoki likes to play. Really, really likes to play. John said give it a few weeks. . . he thinks I can train her. I did already get her to sleep in the crate. . . which she didn't love at first and had never done. Still feeling nervous. Probably lack of sleep. For sure need more sleep.

Mckinley is doing really, really well. Aoki has inspired her to come out of her hiding spots and run around the yard wagging her tail. I think sick dogs need a pack to help them heal emotionally. People can never do what other dogs can do for them.

Will keep posting their progress. . . unless you want to adopt Aoki. Then you can post it. lol.

No you didn't!

Woke up this morning to find Mckinley standing in what used to be her pillow. lol. Oh well. . .that's why we got it at a garage sale. Guess she's feeling better at least! lol. I really love her!

Quack Quack

I had wanted him to wear this little duck costume for Halloween - because it's so soft and snuggly. It's too big. Much too big. So I put it on him for some pictures. He's the cutest little duck I've ever seen!

Day 6 for McKinley

Well, at least her tail is starting to come up a bit. She even waggs it more and more. Still hides all the time. . . . under the deck. . . in my closet. . . in the baby room . . . . and behind the rocker. Still doesn't like John. She lets him pet her - she lets everyone pet her - but won't come to him and she tries to run from him when he comes in the room. But he's the one who gives her the meds twice a day - antibiotics for her cuts. I've been looking at her teeth a lot, brushing her non-existent hair, messing with her paws. . . . just stuff to get her used to being handled. Today she was much more adventurous than the others. My 75 year old neighbor, Ms. Billie, came by yesterday to give me a hamburger she bought the dog from Wendy's. Don't ask me. Gave it to her, when I walked away she ate it. Can't get her to eat or drink much. Think that's why she's still so weak. Tomorrow is a new day. . . so we'll see. I like her.
